Hi i bank with lloyds and my husband has a loan with them he lost his job some months ago and came to agreement to reduce his payments. i pay his payment by standing order from my bank . someone has told me that they can take money from my account without my permission to pay for his debt even as the debt is not mine. i dont have a joint account with my husband can someone tell me if lloyds would be allowed to take money from my account to pay for his debt.

Thanks

Tracey.

No they can only take if its a linked account with the same institution where the debt is held

As you are not linked and the debt isnt yours they are not authorised to do so
